Customer Review: Fantastic design and very accurate thermometer

I really love the design of this dual probe. The short attached probe can be used for grilling or pan frying and the additional removable plug-in long wire probe can be used to monitor temperature of meats in the oven during roasting. The readings are quite quick and are accurate. You can easily scroll through menus to select the type of meat you want which automatically set the safe temperature for that specific meat, or, you can program a "custom" temperature.
You can set the probe to beep when it reaches the target temperature, although it also beeps a pre-goal warning which I don't care for.
You can light the temperature digital display with a backlight, one of the reasons I chose this probe because I grill in poor light conditions in winter.
The first probe I received from Amazon was not working when used in the short attached probe form although it worked perfectly well with the plug-in long wired probe. Amazon sent me a replacement in no time flat but that replacement had the exact same defect. I really liked that probe and did not want to select a different model but rather than return it to Amazon a second time I chose to call the company directly. I received fantastic customer service over the phone from the Oregon based company. They sent me a replacement probe free of charge. I had asked them to open and test the probe before they shipped it to me. I was a bit disappointed when the package arrived and appeared to have been unopened. Well, upon close examination perhaps there were two staples in the top of the packaging to hold it shut and the probe worked perfectly!
