We purchased one for each of our mothers as gifts, and both love it. Each has some difficulty with arthritis in their hands, and this product allows them to open some jars they could not open otherwise (they both live alone). We are considering getting one for ourselves, as we can see we'll be needing it in the not-too-distant future. Excellent, useful, very practical, and well made.

Loosen even the most stubborn lid with the Black & Decker Automatic Jar Opener. Simple, quick and convenient, the jar opener does its job in seconds with only the touch of a button. Just lift the handle and place jar on the turntable, lower the upper portion of appliance to rest on top of jar, press and hold the on/off button until lid is loosened, then remove the jar and lid. Adjusts to fit almost any size or shape including jars with plastic lids, thin jars, baby food jars and large jars. Collapses for easy storage. UL listed. Imported. 8Hx8" dia.With the Lids Off jar opener, Black & Decker has simplified the opening of jars to a no-strain, one-hand operation. Electrically powered, the Lids Off cradles a jar on its lower turntable then grips its lid when you lower the upper housing. Push the large power button, and-voila!-the lid is twisted free. Designed for use on metal or plastic lids, the opener makes a handy tool for anyone and can be especially helpful for those with weak hands or arthritis. The unit accommodates a wide range of jars, from baby food to spaghetti sauce, anything up to 4-1/2 inches in diameter and 8 inches high.
