Ordered this item for my wife as I bought one over 15 years ago for my mom and it it still works great for her. The new one is made a little cheaper, more plastic than years back, and had a problem right out of the box. Pour water in the unit and it leaks right out the bottom, didn't even turn it on. Obviously an internal crack or something. Contact Amazon on the weekend, I had a RMA# and postage paid stamp printed in about 5 mins and a new one was shipped and arrived before I even got the old one back in the mail. Thank you Amazon!
New one works like a charm, she uses it daily and makes the perfect cup. For the price you can't beat this deal!

I've had mine for at least 8 years and it still works wonderfully! This past summer, it wasn't working too well for awhile. All the water wouldn't get used. Before I purchased this I was using a coffee press where I boiled water and poured it into a coffee press and let it brew for about 1 1/2 minutes then pressed the coffee grounds down and poured my mug of coffee.
This compact coffee brewer produces coffee than is very very close to the flavor of brewing in a coffee press. The boiling water brews slowly through the coffee and into the mug; and it is easier to clean up compared to a coffee press. I substitute a 15 ounce glass mug for the one included and I use Starbucks coffee. I add my sweetner to my mug and it dissolves into the coffee as it drips into my mug.
Great for one who only wants a single mug of coffee; it will make two cups (7 1/2 ounce size) also.
I get no plastic taste and I do rinse it out thoroughly after each use. You can also use it to make tea by placing your mug with a tea bag in it and having it automatically boil the water and drip it into your mug. Likewise, if you'd like hot cocoa just put your cocoa mix into your cup.
Making one mug at a time means you always will have a fresh cup of coffee, tea, or hot cocoa. Enjoy.

I love this coffee maker. I am the only coffee drinker in the family and I was wasting so much coffee using a regular pot to make on a couple decent cups a day. One of my favorite features is the permanent filter. I like strong coffee so I fill it with a heaping 1/8 cup of good coffee grounds and the coffee comes out perfect every time. I have to take my son to school early in the morning so it is great it already in the cup just put on the lid and go.
