Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bialetti 6799 Moka Express 3-Cup Stovetop Espresso MakerCustomer Review: Everything I expected Summary: 5 Stars
After extended research and debating I gave in and purchased this little yet very awesome espresso maker. Though the end product is not 100% like that of the espresso you will recive in a corner cafe it's still close enough and delicious. I have been using this product at least once a day since I received it and it's hard to believe but every cup keeps getting better and better. When you recive yours brew 3 or 4 cups of espresso and toss it. Every cup after wards will be brewed to perfection. FYI never wash with soap. Just rinse with water to clean.
Happy Brewing.
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted Summary: 5 Stars
This is perfect for making great coffee for one person (at least in my case).
Brews coffee in couple of minutes and it is very easy to clean.
Customer Review: Excellent product Summary: 5 Stars
The 3-cup is tiny, but then I never have any coffee to throw away. It works fine on ceramic countertop, and is easy to use and clean (hot water recommended).Definitely a good buy
Customer Review: Excellent, but be careful about corrosion... Summary: 5 Stars
While I highly recommend these guys, there are some words of wisdom (largely mentioned by those below and summed up here). I have a counter-top machine, but I bought one of these to take with me on a trip. Since trips were the only time I used it, I kept it stored in my cupboard most of the year. Not thinking, I stored it assembled. When I recently decided to start using it at work, I brought it down to rinse it out and noticed corrosion on the inside of the water vessel. The espresso wound up tasting pretty bitter, so when I contacted Bialetti, they said I could try boiling a half in half vinegar/water solution to clean it. If that didn't work, I'd need to buy a new one. I did this, I even tried boiling a full vinegar solution, but to no avail (I thought about using a mild HCl solution since I work in a lab, but honesty and common sense got the better of me). At any rate, I'm opting to buy a new one and just be a lot more diligent about drying and storing it. I also hadn't heard about using it on medium heat as opposed to med-hi or high heats, so I'll be sure to heed that advice too!
Customer Review: Express Espresso Summary: 5 Stars
I do not like the taste of coffee. Bitter. Icky. But oddly, smells great. Still, after 42 years, I decided to try and get a hankering for the stuff.
Starbucks just opened in our little town and I really like the caramel machiattos but only with a single shot and iced with whip cream though they are very very bad for a diabetic like me and sometimes extremely bitter..bleck...
What to do. What to do?
I went on line to amazon.com and found a tiny espresso maker that can be used on the stove, even for camping and decided, why not try this?
The little box came today. After reading the reviews on the amazon website, I rushed to the store and bought a small bag of freshly ground not less than 10% Kona coffee beans since light roast is not as strong as the darker roasts.
Brewed up the espresso in three minutes, heated whole organic milk with Kortja cinnamon and sugar free vanilla syrup in the microwaves, added half of the coffee and taste..
Wow! No bitterness, extremely creamy, very tasty cappucino! And cheap!!
Hubby actually liked it as well as my coffee loving mother in law who lives next door. I am very impressed with this little coffee pot and the fresh coffee grounds.
Who knows? I may become a coffee drinker yet!
