Customer Review: works great; but noisey as heck

the product is pretty cheaply built; but actually works great....pumps lots of moisture into the air. downside...it is very noisy; so much in fact i run it only on speed 1 (it has 9 speeds). the noise is not only just fan noise, but the fan motor is very noisy as well. i'm very unhappy with the noise level; but haven't found anything better regarding moisture output. i also have two smaller hunter units which are almost impossible to hear; too bad hunter doesn't make a larger model...i buy it in a second.

Console style whole house evaporative humidifier, contemporary style, new digital control panel with hygrometer that measures room humidity, set desired humidity with digital control, variable speed control with quiet nighttime setting,refill lights, automatic shutoff, 13 gallons of output per day, humidifies 2700 sg. ft. 5.5-gal water-holding capacity, easy-fill dual water bottles with refill hose, replaceable two-stage aircare filter that traps airborne particles and odors, Bemis pattened super wick, removable power pack for easy cleaning, ez-roll casters, 28x133/4x22, 28lbs.With the power to humidify an entire 2,700-square-foot house, this model's bulk is quite economical. Plus, a special air-flow system lets you stow it out of the way in a corner or against a wall. Using an evaporative system and unheated, natural, evaporated water, this humidifier requires less energy than warm mist or steam units. You also won't have to deal with white dust, spray, or mist on furniture or floors. Other benefits of the evaporative system include: relief from symptoms of dry skin, itchy eyes, chapped lips, and scratchy throat; it prevents plants and furniture from becoming overly dry; reduced static electricity protects computers and electronics. In addition, this humidifier has a high-performance wick that traps mineral deposits, and a two-stage filter to reduce pollen, dust, smoke, and other odor-causing particles from the air. Two water bottles hold and disperse up to 13 gallons of water per day, for up to 24 hours, at 30 percent humidity before needing refilling. The bottles remove and refill easily and neatly in the sink via an included hose. The digital humidistat makes it easy to set preferred humidity by just pressing a few buttons. The humidistat also automatically turns itself on and off to maintain a set humidity level, displaying both current and desired humidity levels, at all times, on the LCD. In addition, this humidifier's fan offers variable speeds, including a quieter nighttime setting. This humidifier measures 28 by 13-3/4 by 22 inches with casters attached below, allowing easy transport from room to room.
