I'm that guy that's sick and tired of not being able to buy anything of quality any more. For the most part nearly every item out there is built to be disposed of today, from cars to electronics. We ordered this after reading the reviews of this item and several others. I was impressed when I got the box that it actually had some weight to it. Once it opened it and looked it over I was more impressed with the heavy metal, thick pivot pins and the basic but rugged construction.
We've mounted it to a piece of plywood using the screws provided at the top of the basement stairs. We crush a lot of cans. It's been up and running for about 2 months and I would say it's doing everything it's supposed to do and I think it will continue to for a long time to come. There's a couple of mods that can be made to this to make it a little more efficient which you can read in some of the other reviews, but ours is still "stock" and works great. The instructions tell you to start the can by putting a small dent in the side. Do this, but only on one side, put the dent facing the side of the crusher (not the front or back) and 97% of the time the can stays put and flattens out.
GREAT PRODUCT! Would positively recommend it.
