Our complete family is very pleased with this toaster/poacher.
Toaster:
Bread is perfect and even every time.
The Egg Poacher:
This is the part that is a wow factor. I can make a single egg soft to medium in no time and all. Or you can soft to hard boil 4 at a time in the shell in 4 to 6 minutes. Also when you cook eggs can warm up pre-cook meat or fresh fish like salmon. The meat and fish are nicely steamed.
Clean up:
The unit is easy to clean up after cook egg(s) and meat/fish.
Suggestion:
When making eggs and toast at the same time. Let the egg(s) get half done then press cancel. Put you toast, muffin or bagel in and pick combo mode. This will let have these done about same time egg completes.
This is a great gift idea for Christmas. This is one gift that you know family and friends will enjoy getting.

Anybody who loves eggs on toast as I do needs the Tem-500 from Back to Basics. The toaster is ordinary
but the egg maker is superb. Depending on the amount of water used, the eggs are always right.
I had one before I moved to Costa Rica, gave that one away to lighten my load. I had to order another one
as I can't live without the Tem-500.

This toaster is a dream-come-true for me. My old toaster was a standard "just bread" model and I ended up getting rid of it when I recently moved. When I read about newer toasters with modes for cooking eggs and heating up meat while toasting the bread, I was thrilled! I'm the kind of guy who eats at least one or two egg sandwiches a day and I'm always looking for easier ways to prepare them.
I've had the product for about a month now and it is still going strong. I really like having my eggs cooked the same way every time due to the automated system and the inclusion of the water measuring cup. I haven't had any issues with the non-stick surface of the pan, but this may be because I use cooking spray on it each time.
One negative is that the metal tray that holds the water seems to accumulate mineral deposits and other unsightly stains over time. Some of these marks became visible within the first few uses. They don't seem to have any impact on the actual functionality of the product (and they're out of sight when the other trays are in place) so it's not a big deal to me.
Also, I've noticed the synchronization of the toasting and the egg cooking could use some fine-tuning. The bread seems to finish toasting before the eggs are done, so the toast ends up only warm instead of hot when the unit completes the job.

After being told what a great product this is by a friend, I decided to purchase this for myself. I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful this product is! It is so easy to use and very quick. It makes delicious egg sandwiches and they are not runny or greasy. I think this product should be a staple in everyones kitchen. I just bought another one for a gift! ** I read another review below about you only being able to cook one egg every hour because of the timer?? I don't know what that person is doing because I can cook as many as I want as soon as each egg is ready. Which is about every couple minutes!!
