Customer Review: Not suitable for my purposes

This scale arrived promptly and it is very compact. I needed a small scale to weigh very minute amounts(.03G) of powdered vitamins. Unfortunately, this scale is not sensitve enough for my needs and I usually get no reading at all - even though the powder has been placed squarely on the scale.
The scale may need to be calibrated. I didn't purchase the weight necessary to calibrate but I did weigh a nickel several times. A nickel weighs close to 5gms and I got slightly inconsistent readings each time.

This is a very consistent gram balance for small increments in home application. However, if you use a heavy scale pan this will rapidly lose its reliability beyond 25g. I use this mainly for measuring coffee and tea with +/- 0.02g certainty below 30g but stick to more expensive, reliable analytical scales for measuring reagents. I'd suggest to keep a calibration weight handy (I believe it is possible to buy this with a calibration weight included).
Another point that becomes a little irritating is this burns through batteries like crazy. Would be nice to have a plug-in option for this reason and I'm actually considering buying a larger centigram balance to make up for it.
On the positives side, you get a lot from this little guy for pretty darn cheap.
Very compact (size of first wave of smartphones and fits easily in pockets), reliable for the price, easy to clean, easily tared, provides multiple measures, can retain calibration despite being moved or shaken lightly (wouldn't trust jostling on any precision scale), is not damaged by light dripping of water, the lighted display is clear and easy to read either in light or dark, and locking cover is easy to open/close.
