I agree that the kettle appears thin, however my wife and I have been using the kettle twice a day, every day since we purchased it four months ago without any incident. We have a ceramic stove top and the glass bottom fits flush on the flat surface, leading to water boiling very quickly. Hopefully the bottom never falls out, but I see the risk as pretty slim. Guess I'm an optimist and see the kettle as half-full. Only minor drawback is the glass ball on the lid is navy blue, I had hoped it was black.
