First of all, you just can't beat the name. Although commonly referred to as the Acme 6001 Juicer, the plate on the front of the unit says ACME SUPREME JUICERator (caps are the manufacturer's.) That in itself pretty much sold me.
It's a great machine, but it won't juice everything and you have to peel soft produce like tomatoes and peaches. Citrus requires an attachment that is available for purchase separately. Leafy vegetables need to be balled up before juicing. It's not hard to clean, but it does take a little time and should be done soon after juicing. I haven't used the filters, that would speed up the process.
Manufactured by Waring, the 6001 is the twin to Waring PJE401 Juice Extractor. The Acme 5001 is essentially the same machine with a plastic lid and bowl and a 5 year warranty. Paying a little extra for the 6001's stainless steel bowl and lid and longer warranty is worthwhile.
The 6001 model comes with a 10 year warranty. With this much manufacturer confidence in the model, I bought a used one in "like new" condition for a fraction of the list price on eBay. The manual is available online as a free download. Not being the original owner, it's out of warranty but it runs perfectly and I have no regrets!
